A Prayer For Strength

Oh God, Our God

Our Creator and our strength

Help us to understand your ways

And to accept that we were not meant

To understand all things,

Or control all things.

Help us please to accept in faith your will,

And live by your grace in hope and with joy.

It is hard Great Eternal One,

So hard for us to still our fretful minds

And trust in you as you have instructed.

We know we fall short

And we ask your forgiveness.

Please send us thy peace

And give us understanding

That we might imitate Christ

And live fully and without fear

Amen.

Prayer for Purpose

O Creator and Loving Master

May I rise each morning with purpose.

May I sow the fields of my world

With the seeds of love.

May I sing the song of the reconciliation.

May I pluck the harp strings of compassion.

May I Follow the Shepherd who leads me to justice.

May I walk in righteousness and kindness.

May I blanket my world with peace.

Amen

A Prayer for the New Year

Creator God our redeemer

And the fountain of all life
You are our inspiration and our light.
Give us wisdom and courage
As we enter a new year.
That we might better do your will
And obey your commandments.
Let our hearts be unhardened.
Let love be the driving force,
As we go about our lives.
Help us please to follow

in the footsteps of the saints,
And to always model ourselves after your Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ
In whose name we pray.
This day and every day
This day and every day

Amen

An Advent Prayer for Hope

O Creator

Our Strength and our illumination.

As we enter the Advent season please give us hope.

As we journey to the stable let us be lifted.

Let us not be deterred or turned away by materialism,

Or by the sparkle of false idols.

We know your Son is the light we seek.

His birth is celebrated every year as a reminder.

You sent Him to us to illuminate our lives

And show us how to live, live in the light of love.

Lord forgive us please for forgetting to have hope,

And for making excuses and delaying.

Advent is a time of introspection and waiting

But above all it is a time of great anticipation,

Of the coming Light.

Jesus is our torch and our delight

He is our Hope.

Amen
